Omega Dr. Carter G Woodson Academy

 

The Academy has been named in honor of the work, life and ideas of the founder of the Association for the Study of Afro American Life and History, as well as our fraternal brother, Dr. Carter G. Woodson. Held at The Kingsley Association from 10 am to 1 pm, beginning February 7, 2015 and culminating April 11, the Academy teaches Art, History and Science, Technology, Engineering & Math. This year the Academy will have as its historical and arts theme Black Youth Matter: Black Youth in the Fight for Freedom from Racism” and we’ll focus on aspects of the history and art of youth who have been a part of this battle. The Science Technology Engineering and Math classes will focus on learning about ecosystems. We thank you for you interest in the Academy

Black College Tour

 

The Iota Phi Foundation of Pittsburgh is a non-profit corporation that is organized and operated by professional, educated black men who volunteer their time to improve the quality of life of people in the greater Pittsburgh community. Since the tour inception, 900 plus high school juniors from the Pittsburgh area and neighboring counties have participated in visiting at least 15 HBCU’s annually.

 

 Find out first hand about the history of black colleges & universities in the states of Georgia, Maryland, North & South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and the District of Columbia.  In addition, students will have an opportunity to visit African American historical sites.  

 

 

Thanksgiving Turkey Basket Giveaway

 

The Men of The Iota Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. hand out Thanksgiving Baskets to 200 plus families throughout the City of Pittsburgh each year.  On behalf of the Iota Phi Chapter, we'd like to extend thanks to our valued partners who helped us tremendously!

The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Duquesne University, Rivers Casino, and Dilworth Elementary School. These are the type of collaborations that help us to make a difference in our communtiy. Many hands make light work!!!

Achievement Awards Dinner
 

Iota Phi Foundation, an affiliate of the Iota Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, is operated by professional African-American men who volunteer to improve the quality of life of people in the greater Pittsburgh community. One of our mandated programs is to recognize individuals within the local community whose contributions have madea difference in the lives of others. Each year the foundation “presents” these honorees at a black tie optional event which includes a program and dinner.
